yeah we all wanna thank her for this great forum
As for the novel, I think that I noticed two characteristcs
of the 20th century novel so far. The first one ofcourse is
Exploration of exotic places and themes
Forster chose India to be the setting of his novel
India is an exotic place for the English readers cuz no author
talked about it before and they don't know anything about it
. ...........So, He descriped it in details its nature, people, religions, cities ....
but while he did this , he tried to make a comparison between the parts where Indians lived ,which were filthy, ugly and uncivilized ,""So abased, so monotonous is everything that meets the eye, that when the Ganges comes down it might be expected to wash the excrescence back into the soil. Houses do fall, people are drowned and left rotting, but the general outline of the town persists, welling here, shrinking there, like some low but indestructible form of life."
and the parts where the English live which were clean organised
As he entered their arid tidiness, depression seized him. The roads, named after vicorious generals and interecting at right angles, were symbolic of ''the net Great Britain had thrown over India .
And the dissolution of form
Forster divided its novel into three parts(mosque-caves-temple
In each part he focused on a specific points and ideas but they are not
totally separated from each other he tried to give us some hints about the
next one and related some ideas with the previous one
That's all
Hope I said something good:roll:
